Siren is thrilled to welcome three new members to our team. Lisa Stone, Danielle Strachman, and J. Galen Buckwalter are all experts in their fields, and will be joining Siren as advisors to help strengthen our mission.
Lisa Stone co-founded BlogHer, Inc. in 2005 with Elisa Camahort Page and Jory Des Jardins, and serves as the company’s CEO. BlogHer.com, was named one of the Top 100 Websites for Women by Forbes in 2010. Lisa was awarded a coveted Nieman Fellowship from Harvard University in 2002. Prior to that, Lisa was among the early drivers of some of the most successful online communities and interactive programming for women. As the executive producer and Editor in Chief/VP, Programming for Women.com, Lisa grew the 18-channel network to a Top 30 site and oversaw all original programming and the development and integration of content community initiatives with Hearst and Rodale magazines, E! Television/Online, HBO’s Sex and the City, Bloomberg, and Gallup and Knight Ridder.
Danielle Strachman is a founding partner at the 1517 Fund. In 2010, during the founding of the Thiel Fellowship, she joined to lead the design and operations. She is the visionary behind the Thiel Summit series that has been attended by ~2000 young entrepreneurs and is a premier hub for young talent. Previous to her work with the Thiel Foundation, Danielle founded and directed Innovations Academy in San Diego, a K-8 charter school serving 350 students, with a focus on student-led project based learning and other alternative programs.
J. Galen Buckwalter
J. Galen Buckwalter, Lead Inventor of eHarmony and successful entrepreneur, joins Siren as an advisor and investor. With over 20 years of domain expertise in data science, psychometrics, and behavioral research, he has studied human dynamics at eHarmony, USC and Kaiser, and is currently Chief Science Officer at Payoff. He also advises some rising stars at Thiel Foundation. With tremendous integrity, he is widely known to focus his talents towards those efforts that elevate human dignity and address human needs through technology.
